With its unique colour palette, we think the Uvex XPCC is a good-looking helmet, backed up with a fit that hugs your head and a low weight.
The retention system starts just above the ears, which gives a secure-feeling fit. In addition to circumference, there’s vertical adjustment too. The downside of this system, and the lack of a pronounced cut-away above the ears, is that it interferes with sunglasses arms, especially if those arms are relatively thick.
The padded cradle is attached only above the ears, while the straps thread through it to offer extra support at the back. The retention dial is big and easy to find, with a smooth action one way and indexed the other.
A ratchet system, instead of the usual clip, secures the helmet to the head at the neck. It takes a bit of practice to get the ratchet engaged, but once sorted, it’s an effective system that offers just a little extra adjustability.

The peak is short and stubby, and lacks any adjustment. Ventilation is adequate, without being impressive. Internal channelling is there, but it’s shallow, and there’s a bug net over the front three vents. The vents themselves aren’t the biggest either, but you do get 24 of them.
