Rapha Cycle Club Sydney is hosting an intimate women’s only group ride from its Crown Street concept store located in Sydney’s vibey Surry Hills in celebration of International Women’s Day - held annually on the 8th of March.

The Festa Della Donna ride will take place on the day, hosting a limited number of riders on a three-hour social Saturday ride totaling more than 60 kilometres through Sydney’s eastern coastline suburbs.

Already widely known for its Gentlemen’s Race and Supercross events, this is the first Festa Della Donna event in Sydney and second women’s-specific ride in seven months with the inclusion of the Women’s 100, which as the name suggests is a 100-kilometre ride held each July.

“We believe that road cycling is the best activity in the world,” said 25-year-old Rapha ride captain, Klara Sedlackova. “We just want to encourage women to get out there and give it a go.”

When asked if there were any limitations on participating, the former women’s Australian National Road Series cyclist and current rider for Phantom Racing Cycling Club told BikeRadar the only limits were the number of spaces available.

“The most common questions we get is do we have to wear Rapha and our answer is always ‘absolutely not,’” said Sedlackova. “We had about 40 join us for the Women’s 100 and are expecting the same for this weekend’s event. The ride is meant to be both social and empowering, and give women some guidance and options on where to ride, which is something that did not exist when I started riding five years ago.”
