Beach Breaker Fat Bike Challenge

MBUK sample the alternative scene of fat bike beach racing

Ice cream isn’t just for tourists – Matt Orton, MBUK’s deputy Art Editor, will be taking his long term test bike the Surly Ice Cream Truck, out on a seaside adventure.

After weirdy-beardy Matt’s arctic adventures in February, it made sense to send him out on an adventure at the opposite end of the racing spectrum. Unfortunately, the MBUK budget wouldn’t stretch to anything in the Sub Sahara, so instead he’s off to the North Devon coast to shred the sand dunes at this years Beach Breaker race in Croyde. As the first event of it’s kind in the UK, it promises a unique challenge passing through the beautiful UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the Braunton Burrows.

The race is open to all types of bike, but Matt is convinced fat will rule! If you are up for a beach race with a difference, tickets are still on sale at the reduced price of £20 and will also be available on the day for £25.
