Salsa has recalled some models of its 2020 model year Cutthroat gravel bike, as well as Cutthroat framesets and aftermarket forks.

The bikes, framesets and forks affected come with a letter G in the serial number printed on the fork crown. But to see the serial number, the fork needs to be dropped from the frame, so Salsa is asking all owners of the Cutthroat to immediately stop riding their bike and take it to an authorised Salsa dealer for inspection.

We’ve listed the affected models and colours of bikes, frameset and forks below:

  • 2020 Cutthroat GRX 810 Di2 bike: 29in, carbon, white
  • 2020 Cutthroat GRX 810 1x bike: 29in, carbon, bright green
  • 2020 Cutthroat GRX 600 bike: 29in, carbon, teal
  • 2020 Cutthroat Apex 1 bike: 29in, carbon, pink

  • 2020 Cutthroat frameset
  • 2020 Cutthroat Carbon Deluxe V2 fork: Matte
  • 2020 Cutthroat Carbon Deluxe V2 fork: Gloss

Salsa says that in some instances the fork can crack or break, leading to a crash risk. It’s had seven reports of cracked forks, thankfully without any injuries. If your bike is affected, Salsa will install a replacement fork free of charge.

The affected bikes were on sale in the US between September 2019 and September 2020 and were priced from $2,700 and $5,800. Salsa reckons that the recall affects around 600 bikes sold in the US as well as another 100 sold in Canada.
