While few would describe hill climbs as "fun", they're an important part of the UK cycle racing calendar and a true test of fitness, strength and sheer determination.

The second VC Walcot hill climb took place last weekend in Claverton, near Bath – a city well known for its climbs and climbers – and keen cyclist and photographer Tim Holsgrove was there to document it.

Local climbing star Rob Gough repeated his 2009 victory, completing the 800m course (which rises 81m) in 2:45.42 to win by 10 seconds from Richard Cartland (Corley Cycles), with Gough's Arctic Premier team-mate James Dobbin finishing third.
