Born in Australia before moving to Germany to follow his cycling dreams, Heinrich Haussler is once again very much Australian. Having just won the 2015 Australian National Championship he will now wear the green and gold colours on his shoulders as he takes on the WorldTour with the IAM Cycling team.

At 30 years old, Haussler has already had a long career at the top-end of the sport, however he had drop off the radar in recent years having been plagued with injury – now he’s returned, clearly as good as new for 2015.
As a Swiss team, it’s not too surprising to see domestic bike and component sponsors Scott Bikes, Ritchey and DT Swiss making up most of the IAM Cycling bikes. With the exception of the Shimano drivechain, all other components are from German and Italian brands.
IAM Cycling’s sparkling Scott Foil
At the centre of Haussler’s bike is Scott’s aero road frame – the Scott Foil. This is the same frame the Orica-GreenEdge team use for riders such as Darryl Impey, Simon Gerrans and Adam Yates.
The Foil is now likely in its last year before an imminent upgrade, but the frame’s ‘F01technoloy’ with its truncated airfoil shapes continues to provide competitive performance despite its mid-2011 introduction.
Not officially Dura-Ace 9000, the SRM Shimano 11-speed is effectively the same crank
Seemingly the official groupset of the WorldTour 2015, Haussler uses a mostly-complete Shimano Dura-Ace 9070 Di2 transmission, except for the crank, which is a SRM Shimano 11-speed crank.
Like so many other Shimano-sponsored riders that often finish races in a flat-out sprint, Haussler uses Shimano Sprint shifters for rear derailleur shifting while in the drops.
55mm deep DT Swiss tubulars for Haussler
IAM Cycling are the only WorldTour team to be rolling on complete DT Swiss wheels for 2015. At a claimed 1440g for the pair, Haussler rides on DT Swiss RC 55 Spline tubulars, which use a proprietary straight-pull spoke system that allows for a high spoke tension – helping to create a stiff wheel.
Keeping the wheels from dragging along the ground are Schwalbe ‘One’ tubulars in a 24mm width. A representative from Schwalbe told us that some of the team, including Swiss-Champ Martin Elmiger, are experimenting with ‘One’ tubeless clincher tyres at the Tour Down under – a WorldTour first perhaps?
Ritchey provides many of the cockpit components
Like DT Swiss, Swiss-based Ritchey components are no longer widespread within the WorldTour. Haussler’s ride features Ritchey WCS alloy C220 stem and Classic handlebars, with a Ritchey headset and seat post topper completing the build from the once American brand.
