A few short weeks ago in Verona, Wisconsin, Jonathan Page won his fourth US national cyclocross championship. He did so without the support of long-time bike sponsor, Blue Competition Cycles (the company was sold to a private equity firm that chose to discontinue Page’s sponsorship last December). Page rode to victory aboard his signature Norcross SL bike, though he made a point of obscuring any and all frame decals.
On Wednesday, four days before Page was to compete in the cyclocross world championships, Fuji announced it had inked a sponsorship deal with the 36-year-old racer. We caught up with Page after his first spin aboard his new Fuji Altimira CX 1.0.
New frame, old parts
Blue Competition Cycles may have ceased its sponsorship, but Page’s other component-related sponsors carried over. All the parts were hastily swapped over from his former race bikes to three new Altimira CX 1.0 framesets. Page is currently running 10-speed 7900 series Dura-Ace. Upfront he’s running a 46/38 chain ring combo.
His cockpit consists of Shimano’s PRO line of components. Shimano also supplies the wheels, in this case C35 carbon tubulars.
For the rutted and muddy world championship course Page plans to run Challenge Limus tubulars. Page is one of a handful of athletes running a team-only version of the Limus with a cotton casing. (Production tires use less supple, but more durable, polyester casing.)

Luckily for the newly crowed national champion, the Altimira CX 1.0 already comes in a red, white and blue paint scheme. It features a full carbon frame with a BB86 bottom bracket. The full carbon fork tapers from 1.125in to 1.5in.
Page’s 52cm frames have 535mm effective top tubes, steep 74.5° seatube angles, 71.5° headtube angles with 67mm of bottom bracket drop.
As mentioned earlier, we caught up with Page following his first pre-ride of the world championship course in Louisville, Kentucky. It was literally the first time Page rode this three new Fuji Altimira CX 1.0s on a proper cyclocross course.
“This is my first time off-road on the bikes. I found them very responsive, lighter in the front than I am used to, which is good, just a question of finding my balance. I can rail it into corners—it’s a little more carvey,” said Page of his new bikes.
