Tom Dumoulin’s Olympic Giant Trinity Advanced TT
The machine of the 2016 Olympic silver medalist

Despite racing with a broken wrist, Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands stormed to a silver medal in the 2016 Olympic time trial on a Giant Advanced Trinity TT.
Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara won the event, with Great Britain’s Chris Froome taking the bronze.

Like other Giant-sponsored riders, Dumoulin had a special Rio edition paint job on all his bikes this week. Many other bike brands provided custom designs for the Games, too.
Unlike most other companies with bikes at the Olympics, however, Giant has the manufacturing capability to produce its own custom carbon composites, and the Trinity Advanced TT is made with proprietary resin in the Taiwanese brand’s facility.

The AeroDrive TT fork and integrated stem was designed around the AeroDrive base bar that is reversible for 40mm of height adjustment.
Dumoulin used the AeroVault water bottle that Giant designed in conjunction with the Trinity Advanced to meld into the back of the tube’s airfoil shape.
While some riders still prefer narrow tubulars for time trials, Dumoulin went with 25mm Corsa Evo CX tubulars — pumped to 120psi, according to the team.
Aside from the frameset, Shimano handles virtually all the other parts, from the Dura-Ace Di2 drivetrains to the pedals to the PRO tri-spoke front and disc rear wheels to the PRO TT saddle.
Dumoulin had a Pioneer power meter on his 175mm Dura-Ace cranks, paired to Pioneer’s SGX-CA500 computer.
