Q: I'm interested in buying a carbon fibre bike with Dura-Ace groupset. The Cannondale Synapse has caught my eye but what do you think of this and should I consider any alternatives?

A: The Synapse gives you a sublime ride and build quality with the sharp handling of a pure racer, combined with the more upright riding position and greater vertical compliance of a long distance bike. For £3549 you get Shimano Dura-Ace with Ksyrium wheels and Cannondale's Si Carbon cranks.

>Don't overlook the Specialized Roubaix Pro though. This has the FACT 7r carbon frame and Dura-Ace kit for £2699.99.

>I believe that the Cannondale has the sharper, more race-ready handling of the two but the Specialized has the greater comfort factor and better value for money.
