Six German road bikes go head-to-head

Ruthlessly efficient, great value… but dull? We take a look

When it comes to crushingly efficient bikes with great value, German brands have an enviable reputation. Yet, like their auto equivalents, they can also be a bit, well, dull.

So we put six speedy German road bikes to the test, from Canyon, Bombtrack, Storck, Silverback, Cube and Focus – to find out which delivers on the speed and value, but also excited our testers.

Will it be the Canyon Endurace AL 7.0, which comes with full Shimano Ultegra groupset, Mavic Aksium wheels and good quality finishing kit?

The Storck Scenero Disc offers solid stopping, naturally, and also features 105 running kit and DT Swiss wheels that can be run with tubeless tyres. Can Silverback's Sirelli 2 win over our testers with its full Ultegra, a raft of carbon kit and an impressively low weight?

null

We also included an outlier, the Bombtrack Hook 2, undeniably a cyclocross bike in a road bike test, but one with some off-road versatility.

Cube's Lightning Seed C62 also has lots of Ultegra, plus aero Fulcrum wheels and carbon all over it. Finally, the racey Focus Cayo Disc 3.0 has hydraulic disc brakes from Shimano, big clearances and Focus's clever R.A.T. thru-axles.

So which one will triumph? Watch the video above and find out.
