The humble helmet plays a vital role for each rider in the professional peloton and there's simply never been as many to choose from as there are today.

In this video, we take a closer look at five popular helmets from heads of the pro peloton. Included is Swedish brand POC with its popular Octal lid, and Team Sky's helmet of choice - the Kask Protone.

Also in the mix is Bontrager's Ballista, a well-priced option that topped BIkeRadar's comprehensive aero helmet test late last year.
