Look at next year's bike parts, right now

The 2018 components that caught my eye at Eurobike

Eurobike is a sensory overload for bike journalists, a seemingly endless series of halls just bursting with new bikes and kit. Alongside a record-breaking number of e-bikes, there were plenty of shiny new components at the 2017 show.

We've covered major releases like Shimano's new Ultegra R8000 groupset in some depth already, so for a change here's a selection of things that caught my eye but which didn't grab the big headlines.

Click through the gallery above for delights including 3T's wacky new SuperGhiaia handlebar, some gloriously anodised headsets from White Industries, and IRD's miraculous self-cleaning bottom bracket.

  • Discipline: Road, with occasional MTB dalliances
  • Preferred Terrain: Long mountain climbs followed by high-speed descents (that he doesn't get to do nearly often enough), plus scaring himself off-road when he outruns his skill set.
  • Current Bikes: Scott Addict R3 2014, Focus Cayo Disc 2015, Niner RLT 9
  • Dream Bike: Something hideously expensive and custom with external cables and a threaded bottom bracket because screw you bike industry.
