British fashion label Hackett are launching two bikes and a range of casual cycle clothing that will be available in Hackett shops.
The bikes – a single speed (£1,295) and randonneur (£1,995) – are being made through Cooper bikes but have been styled and finished by Hackett’s designers.
The Hackett-Cooper single speed is based on a Cooper T200 Reynolds 531 steel frame. The frame uses double-butted brazed steel tubes and is finished in chrome.
The dark blue and claret bands are both signature colours of Hackett. The bike is finished with matching mustard-coloured Brooks leather bar tape and a Brooks Swift saddle.
Hackett-Cooper single speed
On the component front, the single speed uses a forged quill stem matched to Cooper Rascasse drops. Sturmey Archer provide the large flange hubs, which are laced to Mavic Open Sport 36-hole rims. Sturmey Archer also provide the classic single ring chainset in a usable 44t paired with a 16t freewheel. For comfort, Cooper have shod the bike with big volume 28c Kenda tyres.
The second bike is the Hackett-Cooper T. This is based on the T200 Revival 11. BikeRadar’s sister magazine Cycling Plus recently tested the Revival and rated its ride but was critical of the 53/39 – 11-23 gearing, which was a little tall for a light touring bike. Cooper have amended the spec on the Hackett bike to incorporate a 12-28 on the rear. The Revival’s spec is being similarly modified too.
The Cooper T frame also uses Reynolds 531 but this time it’s finished in Cooper racing green, a colour synonymous with the brand since their Formula One world championship win of 1959.
The bike features a full Campagnolo Veloce groupset, Brooks tape and saddle in honey-coloured leather. Mavic Open Sport wheels are shod with tough Continental UltraSport 28c tyres and the bike comes with full alloy mudguards and compatible Cooper long reach brakes. Out back, a classic alloy rack completes the bike.
Hackett cycle-specific casual clothing
Hackett rider’s polo shirt
Hackett’s cycle clothing development is the flipside of the bikes’. Hackett’s design team handled the range’s styling and colours and Cooper collaborated on technical features. The jeans use high stretch denim with the inner seams being lined from ankle to knee with a hi-vis rib. The crank side leg also features a scotchlite print of the Hackett-Cooper logo to further aid night-time visibility.
The rain jacket has a structured hood with a drawstring closure, a drawstring adjustable waist and a dropped tail. The full-length zip has a storm flap and the cuffs have Velcro adjusters. The bright yellow colour is accented with plenty of Scotchlite print details too.
A wide range of rider Polo shirts and accessories will also be available. They couldn’t confirm prices, but we will let you know as soon as they do.
