From today, BikeRadar readers can take an advance look at Italian Racing Bicycles: The People, The Products, The Passion, the new book by Guido P Rubino chronicling the rich heritage of bike building in Italy.

The book, priced £25.45, is officially published on 1 September but is available exclusively from our new online book store now. It traces the long history of 40 of the landmark brands with roots in bike racing, showing how their hunger for development has produced the industry of today.

From the restless inquisitiveness of Ernesto Colnago to the methodical calm of Ugo de Rosa, Rubino’s book attempts to unearth the stories, methods, dreams and personalities of the firms that have helped shape the sport since the late 19th century. To get hold of a copy, click here.
