An iPhone app containing 30 of the best cycling routes in London is now available from the iTunes store. It's been developed by London Cyclist blogger Andreas Kambanis – previously featured in our website of the week series – and is based on his existing eBook, with updated content including photos and video previews.

Rides featured range from “idyllic towpaths to challenging hill climbs”. Andreas told BikeRadar that guidebooks he'd seen in the past focussed too heavily on short routes in the capital. “They didn’t feel involved enough for anyone with a little more experience on the bike,” he said. “In my app, there are easy, short, traffic-free routes for beginners that show you London isn't just about battling it out with taxis and buses on congested streets."

For more experienced road cyclists, there are rides such as the 38-mile Orpington loop, perfect for training, as well as some that take you out of London at weekends. Andreas hopes the app, which costs £1.79, will continue to grow. He plans to map more rides in the coming months, with an aim to eventually expand into other cities around the world.
