Shand Cycles started off as a small independent frame-builders in Scotland, in 2003. Steven Shand started as a one-man operation, producing handbuilt frames one at a time, but has since brought design and communications man Russell Stout onboard to help the empire grow.
While maintaining the fully customisable aspect of the business, Shand Cycles now offer stock, handbuilt production frames based around five sizes – without losing focus on the craft that has made the brand's name.
Since launching the Stooshie (cyclocross) and Stoater (road) at the Bespoked Bristol handmade bike show in March 2012, Shand unveiled the Skinnymalinky road frame at the Blenheim Palace Cycling Festival in August.
It’s their interpretation of the classic randonneur, or audax, bike. It comfortably accepts 28mm tyres, with mudguard mounts and bottle bosses built in as standard.
Custom colours and graphics are possible for a small charge on top of the £960 standard frame price. A lugged crown fork comes separately, priced £140. Delivery times are approximately six to eight weeks from date of order. See the Shand Cycles website for more information.
