Our review

A combo of fit, fabric and function that delivers a great peformance

We don’t have money to burn, so we do consider matters very carefully when awarding a jersey that costs nearly £100 four stars. But we’re also mindful that on the times we shelled out and got exactly the performance we’ve paid for, we’ve been very happy indeed.

And that’s the Ozon WS – it not only works hard but has a host of tiny details that you won’t even think about when riding, but that make a big difference. If you need to work a number on the bank manager, you could start by telling him it’s like two tops in one – because this is made from Gore’s Windstopper fabric, so it’s like wearing a jersey and a windproof gilet.

We started out being skeptical that something that feels like a normal jersey could be so effective at cutting the wind chill – but it does. But we also found that warming up, we didn’t overheat either, because the brushed inner makes light work of slurping up any sweatiness. The fit is slim but not skinny and cut in such a way that the arms and shoulders articulate perfectly with the bike position and movement.

Three capacious back pockets will win fans in the non-pack-carrying camp and those details we like include a decent zip-pull that’s usable even in full gloves, no-seam shoulders for top comfort and just a smidge of grip tape at the back hem that seems like it shouldn’t be enough to work but just does. Ours is already dry from yesterday’s ride and ready to go again.
