Ground Effect Baked Alaska review

New Zealand has sheep to spare, so it's no surprise that the Baked Alaska is a woolly warmer. The Merino wool acts as a comfy, cosy inner face to a tougher polyester outer.

This is a super versatile and natural-feeling top at a baaa-gain price

New Zealand has sheep to spare, so it's no surprise that the Baked Alaska is a woolly warmer. The Merino wool acts as a comfy, cosy inner face to a tougher polyester outer.

The result is a closefitting but easy-moving and natural-feeling top that never gets too sweaty, but stays warm, even when soaked.

The fleecy Windfoil front panel stops wind chill, while the long zip, dropped tail, tall collar and even thumb loops on the long sleeves eliminate cold spots. Stretch in the fabric makes it an easy mover and it's lasted really well through bush and bramble crashes. Twin-zipped rear pockets carry stuff securely and there's even an emergency puncture patch sewn into the seam, which is a lovely touch.
