Polaris Venom jersey

Less than £50 will buy you a jersey that wicks very well and will keep you warm

The Venom jersey is relatively heavy for a spring jersey. With its brushed inner lining, high collar, full-length zip, long sleeves, thumb loops and reflective detailing, it makes for a warm and comfortable top that you wouldn’t feel out of place wearing in winter.

Despite all that extra weight and warmth, though, it’s pretty good at shifting sweat. It gained 191g, which is a lot but less than half the jersey’s dry weight, and there are far lighter competitors that have gained a greater proportion than that in other tests. Just as impressive was the fact it managed to shed almost a quarter of the weight it had gained in the following hour.

Given that the garment costs less than £50, if you’re looking for a spring-weight jersey that gives you the most performance per pound, there’s no need to go elsewhere.
