Specialized S-Works jersey review

Specialized does a great line of soft goods to accompany its bikes and the top of the line S-Works jersey is a gem. Using the very soft Toray Fieldsensor fabric the jersey feels great on and, thanks to the fabrics capillary action, manages to effectively move moisture away from your skin.

Our review
The S-Works jersey is a great top for long, rough rides

The first thing we noticed about this lightweight jersey was just how soft the Fieldsensor material is, it's very cosy compared to regular Lycra cycling tops.

Fieldsensor doesn't only feel good but has excellent wicking properties too getting sweat away from your skin and keeping you dry and comfortable. The cut is roadie rather than baggy but the raglan style shoulders give unrestricted movement. This also helps to cut down on the number of seams used.

There's a full-length front zip, which allows for great temperature management although the small zipper can be fiddly to use on the hop. The rear hem has a rubbery gripper, like Specialized use on their short legs, to stop the jersey riding up your bag and causing drafts. There are also two rear pockets both of which are angled for easy access. Add in reflective logos front and rear and you have the makings of great jersey.

It's light weight and long sleeves makes it ideal for spring and autumn (and cool summer evenings) not just to keep warmth in but also to keep the sun off during those unexpected sunny spells when you'd otherwise get home with glow-in-the-dark arms. The S Works Jersey isn't cheap, but you will probably get a lot of wear out of it in unpredictable Blighty. Also available in black
