Provides luxurious warmth and feel, but it's expensive and delicate

This relaunched king of Californian retro cool will add serious warmth to your winter if your wallet can hack the price tag.

This jersey is made from nothing but the finest-quality Merino wool, and it feels by far the most luxurious top in our test. It certainly boosted morale instantly on some predawn race laps or challenging rides. Although it gets damp and heavy with sweat or rain, it still stays toasty warm and stink-free, so comfort levels continue to stay high.

The top unravels very easily though, and a small hole will spread quickly if you snag a thorn. Also, some folk find even the finest wool an itchy experience, and the cut is basic when you consider the extremely high price.
