Northwave Extreme 3 jersey & bibs review
Unmistakably Italian, Northwave offers riders stylish kit from shoes to glasses — and its cutting-edge looks are certainly on show with this Extreme 3 outfit.
Northwave Extreme 3 jersey
The jersey is astonishingly comfortable during hot weather Immediate Media
The Extreme 3 jersey uses Sensitive Plus fabric, that’s thin enough to see through up close, but still provides UPF50+ protection and feels durable. It stretches in all directions, creating a snug yet flattering fit and feels soft on the skin.
Providing structure, the semi-transparent mesh-reinforced fabric side panels and rear pockets allow more defined stretch. The waist and pockets are kept in check by silicone strip-backed elastic at the front, with a thinner, stretchier Lycra gripper on the rear.
The sleeves have generous length and raw-cut cuffs with a printed silicone strip inside for ideal positioning. In hot weather, it is astonishingly comfortable, maintaining impressive dryness and comfort, even without a base layer.
Northwave Extreme 3 bib shorts
The Extreme 3 shorts are built around a K130 3D pad Immediate Media
The Extreme 3 shorts are built around a K130 3D pad, with a flat top and contoured underside. It’s heavily perforated, but conforms to your shape, with shock-reducing density.
The fabric is highly elastic, with neat, flatlocked seams, and a smooth, almost slippery feel. They have a reassuring, compressive feel, and the wide 270-degree silicone-backed elastic leg gripper works with the remaining raw-edge Lycra panel for an effective, non-aggressive leg hold.
All-mesh, lightweight bibs ensure an ideal fit while aiding ventilation. On every ride, in a variety of temperatures, the Extreme 3s have proved incredibly comfortable.
