Structured, stiff and secure, the Prismas are great race shoes
Skip to view product specifications

The Prismas are some of the best race shoes around. The uppers are a combination of Microtex and mesh. They’re stiff and supportive, the big swathes of mesh aiding breathability.

The heel cup provides a stable fit (one of the most secure out there), the deeply padded back ensuring they’re comfortable. At 233g (size 45) they’re not that light, but fit and structure are exceptional.

The single ‘ATOP’ BOA-style ratchet is among the best we’ve tried. Using a threaded string instead of the BOA’s metal wire allows much more flexibility – making it easier to get them tight and offering plenty of very fine adjustment. To release, turn the rotor 45 degrees anti-clockwise.

The DMT’s lack of fully heat-mouldable uppers might make the Prismas seem outmoded at this price. But with the thermo-formable insole offering great tunability this isn’t an issue. Simply heat the insoles in your oven for 20 minutes, pop them in your shoes, put them on and spin your legs on a turbo trainer until they cool and form to your feet. Simple and very effective.

DMT’s new carbon sole combines nine layers of hi-modulus fibres. This is claimed to provide maximum stiffness, apparent as soon as you start riding. The Prismas offer absolute solidity – you’d be hard pushed to find anyother shoe that transfers power as efficiently.
