This shoe’s name pays homage to a whirling mass of racing cyclists, but its performance is more suited to a club run.
The sleekly styled upper looks the part and provides a wide range of adjustment, holding firmly but never pinching.
However, despite the reinforced nylon sole being drilled to accept two-bolt cleats, a pressure point above the cleat caused foot cramps after only an hour.
When using pedals with a standard three-bolt cleat the sole was more comfortable and stiff enough to handle moderate paced riding, but these shoes lack the zip for life in the peloton.
