Their combination of stiffness, fit, grip and protection makes these uber-tester Guy Kesteven’s favourite mountain biking boots. If you ride year-round these are the shoes you need.
Shimano AM50s have just the right stiffness to ride from dawn to dusk, yet you can walk in them rather than waddling. The roomy, sturdy toe box keeps your piggies intact when rocks are flying and there’s good mud grip, even without studs.
The high reinforced sides add support and protection without interfering with pedalling or your Achilles tendon. Plenty of mesh means they dry quickly, and they’re easy to slip on and off.
My AM50s are lasting outstandingly well thanks to their excellent build quality.
