Our review
Outstanding race performance, if you can justify the price.

Light, stiff and rugged shoes, very much in the racing mould. They're not cheap and they're not great off the bike, but they're perfect if going faster is your priority

The Pro is a fine example of what top-end race shoes should be, with their super-stiff carbon fibre midsoles. Those tough man-made uppers mean that they will almost certainly last the course, too.

The ratchet and Velcro strap retention set-up offers a snug yet precise fit, and you’re kept cool with plenty of airy mesh panels that also dry quickly if they get wet. Underneath, thermoplastic outsoles offer great traction in the dirt, and there’s a stud option for wet weather riding.

There’s plenty of padding around the ankle and inside the heel cup, which also holds the shoes in place. This all makes for a comfy ride out of the box.

Inside is Specialized’s Body Geometry footbed with a raised button that spreads the metatarsal bones to avoid crushing nerves and blood vessels, avoiding hot spots and foot pain. There’s also an arch support that minimises arch flex in your foot and improves power transfer.
