The Pivot is Teva’s first clipless shoe, developed to give a flat pedal look and feel for trail/all-mountain riders. Slip a pair on, and they instantly feel light and very comfortable, with a slim profile that provides plenty of crank clearance.
The form-fitting tongue, well shaped insole and minimal internal seams further bolster comfort, making them great for long days in the hills. We’re glad Teva included its sticky Spider365 rubber sole for that bit of added traction on the pedal body when unclipped or when walking on dicey terrain.
One particularly neat feature is that the pedal cleats can be fitted with the bolt heads sitting inside the shoe, by slotting the supplied long-handled Torx T25 key through a hole in the tongue. This means no bolt ends protruding into the insole and also stops the bolt heads getting gunked in mud. It’ll only work with CrankBrothers and Shimano cleats though, and adds extra faffing.
The composite midsole has a good balance of stiffness and flexibility for power and comfort when pedalling, with extra flex in the toe section to make off-the-bike escapades comfortable. As you’d expect from looking at them, the Pivots won’t keep you dry in the pouring rain, but they’re not heavy and dry quickly.
