Northwave Kameleon Shoes review
Northwave shoes were everywhere in the mid 90s, then they went off the boil a bit, but now they’re hot again, largely thanks to some great new designs, like the Kameleon.
These shoes are notably roomy – if you’ve got fat feet (hey, it’s OK) and you find most cycling shoes a squeeze, then these are the dogs you’ve been waiting for. The upper is almost seamless, so there is very little to rub against your toes, and the double velcro and micro buckle adjustments keep everything comfortably in place. The mid sole is made from carbon-enhanced plastic, which is both light and stiff (though not to full carbon standards) and the ‘Jaws’ outsole won’t sell you short on grip, however slippery the slope. Overall, these are solid performing shoes that will do long days in the hills as well as race days.
