Just as we see pro riders swap bikes depending on terrain – even during the race in some time trials – our staff are infatuated with finding the right bike to tackle particular cycling challenges, and will write about just that in the Horse for the Course features.
In 2014, our US Editor Ben Delaney tested a Specialized Tarmac Disc over 4,000m of dirt-based climbing and smashed the bike course at the Ironman Boulder (the swim and run were another matter!).
What really got you stirred up though, was Ben testing the Scott Foil against turbulent crosswinds to see if this truncated-airfoil aero bike was a winner in everyday conditions.
Tech editor James Huang wrote about his experiences using an Ibis Ripley for a grueling 111km mountain bike race and our Australian editor David Rome wrote of his first time riding Shimano XTR 11-speed at a race.

BikeRadar is driven by our combined passion for bike gear across both mountain and road and, sometimes, we can’t fight the compulsion to dig deeper into the bikes, tech, trends and tools that surround our fair two-wheeled sports.
