UK retailer Halfords says electric bikes aren’t just for ‘Silver Cyclists’ as it launches the Carrera Vengeance E-junior, an e-bike for teenagers aged 14 or over.

There’s no denying that e-bike sales have been on the rise. Halfords has reported that electric bikes now account for 11 percent of its overall bike sales across its group, which equates to a growth of 47 percent on a like-for-like basis.

Enter stage left: the Carrera Vengeance E-Junior.

The Carrera Vengeance E-Junior is a mini-me version of Halfords’ adult Carrera Vengeance e-MTB, first released back in 2017.

The 8-speed aluminium framed E-Junior comes with a frame-mounted 317Wh battery claimed to offer up to 40 miles per charge, and a rear Suntour hub motor that caps at the UK limit of 15.5mph.

Shimano Altus gearing is paired with Tektro M300 mechanical disc brakes, while the short-travel Suntour XCE suspension fork is mated with 26-inch wheels and Kenda Kadre 2.1-inch tyres, so it should be suitable for light off-road and trail use.
